I would like to thank the Tasman District Council for sponsoring me on my Spirit of New Zealand adventure.
The trip was a major turning point in my life, and I feel I got a lot from it. I managed to improve my communication skills and enhance my leadership and social skills.
This trip was a great experience. I stepped outside of my confort zone, and achieved things I thought I would not. I made a heap of new friends, most of which I will keep in contact with for years to come.
It was an incredible experience, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Thank you again, Josh
I would like to thank you for giving me a donation towards my Spirit of New Zealand voyage.
It was the first time I had been in a group of young people who I'd never met before. The leaders and leading hands on the voyage were awesome people and made the voyage fun. It gave me the option to meet lots of great new people from other parts of New Zealand and other cultures.
I learnt new skills like working a sailing boat and all the jobs that need to be done on it. Climbing up the mast and out on the rigging wasn't a problem for me, but the freezing early morning winter swims were.
We spent the 10 days sailing in the Hauraki Gulf and then onto Great Barrier Island where we hiked up the Kauri dams and onto the high ridges. I was born on Great Barrier Island and it was good to go back and see it again from the ocean.
The voyage is one of the best things I have done. I'm very grateful for the opportunity.
